A picture, because I’m too tired for my usual thousand words
This builing looks roughly as shaky as I feel after three hours of sleep on an transatlantic flight - Boston to Amsterdam to Istanbul. I’m in this absurdly lovely city for the next five days and hope for more gracefully slouching buildings, fresh fish, cheeky street cats and the sounds of the World Cup on a hundred TVs intermingled with the call to prayer.

What a beautiful shot. And I love your description of the city and what you expect from it. One of these days I really will have to go there with you…

The image and the ones you evoke are wonderful. Wishing you a good night’s rest and a productive visit.

Hello! Where was this taken? I have a very similar shot in Balat and the house looks so much similar. I will try to find a copy and share it with you.
I hope you enjoy your visit, drink lots of Raki! I miss Istanbul a lot!

Ethan! I can’t believe you’re so close - yet so far. Even more frustrating: I’m planning to be in Istanbul next week.
Have a wonderful, fabulous time - everyone loves Istanbul. “Absurdly lovely” is such a perfect description.
