[...] And not only are things abundant by nature online, they are increasingly abundant. Look at hard drive space and bandwidth. The 56kbps dial-up modem was a revelation. Now, it’s unthinkably slow. Ethan Zuckerman gives the example of online mail storage: Hard drive storage has become abundant to the point where GMail is able to give users 2 gigabytes of mail, instead of the 2 megabytes Hotmail used to give you. “Your mailbox is full? What was that about?” [...]

[...] Terry Heaton and I have apparently both pimped George Costanza’s opposite philosophy as a rational approach to media transformation (Terry) and marketing/product development (me). Throw in Ethan’s perspective, Tara’s manifesto, David’s deductions and Chris Anderson’s thesis and I think this puppy has some well-developed legs. All of this is kinda, sorta being woven into the Zecco presentation I’m sweating to complete as I drop this tidbit of thought. [...]

"In the past, “everything is forbidden unless it’s permitted.” Now everything is permitted unless forbidden."

True in the "long tail" context, but in the current copyright context, I think Lessig would say, it is the opposite. DRM makes use "forbidden unless permitted" greatly reducing what in the public domain, and can be used for "fair use".

Just orthogonal food for thought.

[...] Anderson berichtete in seinem Vortrag auch, dass er eine neue Management-Philosophie ausprobiert: “I do whatever my interns tell me to do.” This is leading him towards carrying out book signings in Second Life.
