I haven't read Nilekani's book.

I had written a recent blog post on a similar issue of India in 2 different centuries: "Did India Skip The 20th Century" http://aparanjape.wordpress.com/2009/01/07/is-india-skipping-the-20th-century/

Here I describe how in the development evolution of a country, India seems to have directly moved from the 19th century to the present 21st century.

Thanks
Amit

Precisely - India would be a younger country through 2015 to 2040, than it is today.
