Appropriate to this video is that posted on the following URL, also applicable to the current Swine Flu epidemic:
http://www.frequencyfoundation.com/2009/07/bird-flu-influenza-and-1918-case-for.html

Similiarly, there is a sister post on:
http://www.frequencyfoundation.com/2009/07/swine-flu-do-we-really-have-right.html#links

Have a look.

But as you say here (http://www.ethanzuckerman.com/blog/2009/04/30/twitter-trends/) it's the derivatives that matter, right. It's not the number of cases of tuberculosis that matter, we (might) like to be notified of change of number of deaths by tuberculosis.

Of course this is not the whole effect, but why shouldn't we be visualizing the change in deaths from TB vs swine flu, and see how that's covered in the News.

I just found your blog, and I find it very interesting!
I'm going to Accra for three months on a legal internship. I noticed that you have a link to Geekcorps - how tech savvy would I need to be to volunteer?
Happy blogging!
