On that axis, Facebook is at the extreme end in emphasizing the person rather than that which they’re posting. reddit is pretty far along the other end of this continuum, but the example I think of as being way on that end is actually Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is social media, and if you participate in it you begin to view articles as snapshots of conversation at a point in time. And reddit also has some objective utility separate from it’s social media functions, though the balance is a little bit more towards the social than Wikipedia’s. Compared to things like Facebook, though… Wikipedia and reddit resemble each other much more strongly, and have much more in common with each other, than either does to Facebook.
